A cosmic cyclone has stirred up a tempest of radiation, electricity, scrap metal and the life-forces of fallen warriors and deadly assassins. Now the war begun half a century ago will be waged by a new mutant lifeform - CyberGladiators. Eight fighters plus two bonus bosses in ten battle arenas renew old hatreds as they slam, smash and thrash their way to ultimate victory...or annihilation.
Exclusive PC Fighting Features: Knock your opponent's head off and watch the life-force sparks ooze away Grab crates, barrels, spears and flaming bricks to smash your opponents Computer enemies actually learn how to counter your fighting style Interrupt and change moves on the fly
Other Features: 8 fighters and 2 bonus bosses with over 50 moves per fighter Engage in war against computer opponents or battle head-to-head with friends Punch, kick, jump and backflip like a master martial artist thanks to incredible 3D motion captured technology Customize the detail level of backgrounds and fighters to optimize gameplay on your system
Gameplay, for once, hasn't been compromised for a pretty picture. Timing your hits to create combos may take some practice, but there's a method for chaining attacks together. Auto-chain combos and throws are also in full effect, and player control is tight and responsive - the only caveat being that you'll need the fastest Pentium and a Direct 3D- compatible accelerator to get the most bang for your buck (thankfully, you can adjust detail levels down to suit your system if it can't pump the polygons).
"Is CyberGladiators perfect? No. Where's the combo meter? The practice mode? For a 3D game, lateral movement is sorely missed, and the fact you can't hit an opponent while they're picking up a weapon is ridiculous.
"Sierra's first foray into the fighting game arena is a bold first step. CyberGladiators, while not flawless, packs the visual seductiveness and responsive gameplay to warrant some serious gamepad spanking." |
